About Us

Steven Bartus

Steven spent his time at Bowdoin majoring in Government with a focus on the political economy of developing countries, particularly those in Africa. He spent two and a half months living in Peru last summer, gaining valuable experience from traveling and working with non-profit organizations in the developing world. Additionally, Steven is proficient in video production techniques, having spent three years directing the operations of the Bowdoin Cable Network, the student-run television station on campus.

Anna Karass

Anna, a student of international relations, is interested in learning about the history of the children of Kissehman, as well as the potential of grassroots organizations such as MGYN to build social capital in developing countries. She hopes to put her journalism experience as Senior Editor of The Bowdoin Orient into practice during the filming and production of the video and photo project.

Aisha Woodward

Also a Government major, Aisha spent five months studying at the University of Ghana in 2007. While there, she met the directors of MGYN and fell in love the children of Kissehman. She worked weekly with the kids, doing everything from basket weaving to traditional Ewe dances to English literacy instruction. Aisha is excited about this opportunity to return to Ghana and brings solid knowledge of Kissehman and the greater Accra region to the project.
